Reggae Boyz mainstay defender, Damion Lowe, allegedly suffered racist abuse at the hands of an opposing player during a Major League Soccer (MLS) match over the weekend.
Lowe, who plays for Inter Miami FC, helped his team win 3-2 away to DC United. But, the takeaway from the game wasn’t the result. Instead, the talk centered around Lowe being allegedly abused by DC United forward and Greece international, Taxi Fountas.
During a touchline altercation, Fountas was accused of calling Lowe the N-word. Inter Miami FC coach, Phil Neville, huddled his players after the incident. Meanwhile, DC United’s coach and Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, substituted Fountas shortly after the incident.

The MLS is investigating the alleged incident between Lowe and Fountas. Lowe’s club and the Jamaica Football Federation have publicly voiced their support for the Reggae Boyz player.
Fountas denied the allegations in an Instagram post on Monday, claiming he denounces the slur he’s accused of using.
Lowe made an Instagram post of his own on Monday with the caption, ‘Black is Beautiful.’
