Former Manning Cup star, Omar Laing, gunned down

The Jamaican schoolboy community is in shock and mourning today after the sudden killing of former Manning Cup standout and Cavalier Football Club striker, Omar Laing, on Friday evening.

Laing was murdered during a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Charles Street and Orange Street in West Kingston. He was celebrating his 18th birthday at the time of his death.

Laing was the leading scorer for St. Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) during the 2021/22 ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup. STATHS reached the semi-finals of the competition before falling to eventual champions, Kingston College,

He was also a member of Jamaica’s U19 national football team. And, he only made his debut with Cavalier FC two weeks ago.
