Jamaica’s first female Olympic finalist, Cynthia Thompson, dies

Sad news in the Jamaican sporting world on Friday as our first ever female Olympic finalist, Dr. Cynthia Thompson, passed away today at the age of 96.

Thompson represented Team Jamaica at the 1948 Olympic Games in London, where she reached the women’s 100 m final and set an Olympic record in the women’s 200 m. Also a Central American and Caribbean Games champion, she was the longest living Caribbean Olympian. Walk good Cynthia 🙏
