Reggae Girlz star, Konya Plummer, introduces the world to her little bundle of joy!
Plummer, who captained Jamaica at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, announced her pregnancy this past July. She recently gave birth to her first child, a baby boy.
Konya Plummer has yet to play in 2022, most recently suiting up for Swedish top-division side, AIK in November 2021. She was the former first-round pick of the Orlando Pride of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). However, the Pride released her when her contract expired, starting just a handful of games during her two years there.
Last week, Reggae Girlz manager, Lorne Donaldson, selected Plummer for a pair of friendlies against Paraguay. The friendly matches will be played on Nov. 10 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex and Nov. 13 at the National Stadium.
Because of her pregnancy, Plummer missed out on the CONCACAF W Championship where the Girlz qualified for their second consecutive World Cup. The 2023 Women’s World Cup, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, will see Jamaica take on France and Brazil in their first two Group F games. Their other opponent could be Paraguay or any of Panama, Papua New Guinea and Chinese Taipei.
