Jamaican-born England international winger, Raheem Sterling, moves once again, switching from West London to North London, at least temporarily.

Sterling joins Arsenal on loan from Chelsea, making the last-minute switch to round out the 2024 summer transfer window. The season-long loan sees Sterling join his fourth “Big Six” club. He previously played for Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Arsenal is set to cover $100K per week of his $325K weekly salary, with no obligation to buy.

The 29-year-old forward described the move to Arsenal as a “perfect fit,” boarding the Premier League’s runner-up in each of the last two seasons. “I’m buzzing. It’s one where we left it late but it’s one I was hoping for,” he told Arsenal.com. “Looking at everything, I’m just like: ‘this is a perfect fit for me’, and I’m super happy that we got it over the line.” He also credited the club’s “desire” and “hunger” for success as they look to end their 20-year Premier League title drought.

Raheem Sterling Switches Blue for Red

Sterling’s Arsenal move comes after previous links with the player and following the departure of several forward options. The Maverley-born player landed the transfer after new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, deemed he was not in his plans.

Sterling joined Chelsea in 2022 after winning four Premier League titles, four league cups and an FA Cup during his seven seasons at Manchester City. However, his Chelsea stint has been uninspiring as the club finished 12th and 6th during each of his seasons there. He also struggled with inconsistency and injury during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal finished with 84 and 89 points respectively in the last two seasons. However, they just lost out on the league title to now four-time defending champions, City. Sterling will wear the No. 30 at Arsenal, competing for minutes on both flanks with Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and his England teammate, Bukayo Saka.
