Reggae/dancehall singer, Sevana, has pleaded guilty to a death by dangerous driving charge stemming from a fatal accident last year.
The 31-year-old singer entered the plea when the matter was mentioned on Monday at the Westmoreland Circuit Cuit. The artiste, whose real name is Anna-Sharé Blake, is represented by attorney, Everton Dewar.
Sevana faces a five-year prison sentence following the guilty plea. She will know her fate on November 17.
The former member of Protoje‘s Indiggnation Collective was charged in June 2021 after an incident in which her Honda City collided with a Honda Fit going in the opposite direction. The incident took place along the Scott Cove main road in Whitehorse, Westmoreland.
Ordia Cordiel, the drive of the Honda Fit, sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to those injuries in hospital. Her brother was also injured in the accident. At the time of the collision, Sevana was a relatively new driver, having just received her driver’s license a week prior. She spoke out for the first time about the incident during a sitdown with Simone Clarke-Cooper on Sim Sessions last March.
Sevana is known for hit songs like Mango, If You Only Knew, Brand New and Lowe Mi.
