Dancehall legend turned gospel star Lt. Stitchie has died

The Jamaican 🇯🇲 music industry bids farewell to another icon as the great Lt. Stitchie has died.

He passed away just one day shy of his 61st birthday, having battled health issues stemming from a brain haemorrhage he suffered in 2024. The prominent artiste, whose birth name is Cleveland Laing, had been recuperating privately following the stroke, having received donations from Bounty Killer and other artistes to aid his recovery. However, the day before his death, Laing was admitted to Kingston Public Hospital due to a low blood count.

Stitchie is a foundation dancehall star who made his name in the 80s with several hits, including the popular ‘Wear Yuh Size’ and ‘Natty Dread.’ He later transitioned to a fruitful gospel career, most notably dropping the classic, ‘Fast and Pray.’
