Founder and Managing Director of The Maia Chung Autism and Disabilities Foundation (MCADF) Maia Chung says, as the entity approaches 18 years of unwavering service to the vulnerable; it’s crucial that the organisation does more for Jamaicans in need.
She said, since 18 years ago, when we began to now, 2026, anecdotally, “it’s palpably observable that things are worse for vulnerable people. Since we launched in April 28, 2008, we go hard, we never went home, and the work must rise.”
She indicates by again observable math, “if six people were coming to MCADF four years ago, it’s now more like 36….by ratio that’s an obvious increase in percentages, it’s not rocket science.”
“For the past ten years or more, a lot more people in dire straits with and without Autism and other disabilities and other social support they are not receiving; that fall in the realm of basic human rights…have been reaching out to us. Autism or not, we help everyone we can; our motto is “All God’s Children Welcome.”

“So for at least that amount of time, along with our core focus Autism, we’ve been feeding street people, resourcing government homes, like the Maxfield Park children’s home, resourcing places of safety, we added health and a specific focus on cancer interventions… a lady say to me, why you don’t put it on social media? Well, we “nuh dweet fe de love nor de likes me general”, said the MD.
Chung adds, “we do it for the God of Moses, the Most High, Jehovah Jireh, this is sufficient”.
Carrying on she said, “I designed some new partnerships and mechanisms, to help us do more, under the Maia Chung Corporation (MC Corp), the parent company of all my businesses, we rolled out our subsidiary business KIDSOWN #Jamaica… to do more for all children of Jamaica from Kindergarten to 18.
She said, “this is journalism avenue, existing in the digital space, it is a radio show on the global radio and television network Omega Church Network/KLAS FM 89.9 and a podcast on Rebel Radio owned by veteran journalist and former president of the Press Association of Jamaica Desmond Richards”.
She added, KIDSOWN : “Where Young Voices Take the Lead”, we are extending an outreach with more deep and consistent impact for the next 17 years…with high emphasis on efficacy.
One of the greatest things God has done in 2026, is to grant the MCADF and KIDSOWN #Jamaica favor and a solid partnership and real support through joining with Tankweld Metals, which has an historic embed of helping those who need help. The two companies have formed “a help the people alliance”.
So why is the corporate giant helping the social initiatives of the MCADF and partnering their epic charitable social development work with the MCADF?
According to Bruce Bicknell head of Tankweld Metals, in an interview earlier this week …with the KIDSOWN News team, at his Kingston office in Jamaica, ” that’s a powerful question — and an important one”.
“A partnership between Tankweld Metals and MCADF/KIDSOWN can be genuinely beneficial to vulnerable communities in Jamaica because it connects economic strength with social purpose.”
Further, “here’s why that matters it moves support from charity to sustainability, many vulnerable families don’t just need short-term…they need stability, skills, and opportunity “.
He added, “Tankweld brings infrastructure capacity, industry knowledge, employment pathways, financial and operational strength”.

According to the Tankweld head, “KIDSOWN brings direct community relationships and trust within vulnerable populations, social development programming, holistic child and family support, which, together, create long-term empowerment instead of one-off aid, which both Tankweld and the MCADF are about.”
He indicated that “it creates real pathways out of poverty if vulnerable youth and families connected to MCADF/KIDSOWN can access apprenticeships, technical training exposure, mentorship in industrial trades, employment pipelines…then the partnership becomes a bridge from social vulnerability to economic independence.”
Mr. Bicknell added that the partnership will seek to address long-term impact on, “youth unemployment, skills gaps, intergenerational poverty, strengthening community stability, when corporations visibly invest in communities they operate in, it builds trust.”
The two entities agree that the work planned and already enacted beginning this January 2026, will heal and reduce the ever-growing social disconnect, and promote shared responsibility.
Mr. Bicknell, shared the view that vulnerable populations need to feel seen for the nation’s prosperity — not as recipients, but as future contributors. This is Jamaica Land We Love.
Chung added that we need to rescue the children and use all methodologies to provide ways away from criminality.
The two companies understand that the newly formed work they are doing aligns with Jamaica’s development priorities, workforce development, youth empowerment, community resilience, public-private and civil collaboration.
This structured partnership aligns with national development goals while serving the most at-risk groups.
It multiplies Impact MCADF/KIDSOWN may have a deep social reach but limited industrial leverage.
Tankweld may have industrial strength but limited grassroots access; resources are better and honestly targeted, programs are more practical, impact becomes measurable, and it becomes not just “helping” but building capacity.
Tankweld Metals is happy that the alliance combines compassion with capability.
When business and social development operate together, vulnerable communities don’t just receive support — they gain access to opportunity, dignity.
