Khadija Shaw poses with the FA WSL title

After it appeared Reggae Girlz ace Khadija Shaw was set to play her last game for Manchester City despite setting records and winning them a league title, Bunny confirms she’ll keep hopping along in City colours for a few more years.

Shaw inked a new four-year deal with Man City, making her one of the highest-paid players in women’s football. The Spanish Town native confirmed her new contract during City’s parade to celebrate their FA Women’s Super League title win.

Shaw’s contract was initially set to expire in July after a four-and-a-half-year stay at City. After makng her name in France with Bordeaux, she blossomed into one of the game’s premier strikers at City. Bunny has scored a club-record 117 goals in 137 games for City. She also became the first woman in FA WSL history to notch three 20-goal campaigns. The three-time Golden Boot winner’s 21 goals powered City to their first league title in 10 years, outlasting 2025 Women’s Champions League winners Arsenal. They also dethroned six-time defending league champions, Chelsea

Khadija Shaw was strongly linked to Chelsea

Despite her countless accolades, Shaw and City struggled to come to terms on a new deal. This led many to question why the club would let her walk after putting together an all-time resume. Chelsea were heavily linked to Shaw. The Blue were reportedly set to offer her over £1 million per year, more than four times her previous pay packet. However, City bettered Chelsea’s salary and terms in a dramatic U-turn to keep Bunny at the club.

Attention now turns to this coming Sunday, when Shaw’s City take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium in an attempt to seal a league and cup double. Bunny Shaw will also lead City in next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League. She hopes to help them build on the run to the quarterfinals from last season.
