Reggae Girlz boost 2019 World Cup hopes

Just over 20 years after the Reggae Boyz played at their lone World Cup in France 🇫🇷, the Reggae Girlz are a step closer to booking a maiden berth at next year’s Women’s World Cup in France.

After defeating Cuba 9-0 on Thursday, Jamaica are in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Women’s Championship, where they will face the defending world champions, the USA on Sunday. Jody Brown’s hat-trick and a Sashana Campbell brace led the way for Jamaica as they comfortably brushed aside the Cubans, who they defeated to win the Caribbean title in August.

The top three from the final four (Canada vs. Panama is the other semi-final) will make the World Cup automatically while the fourth-placed team will face Argentina in an intercontinental playoff for a spot.
