Big news emerges from the Team Jamaica camp with the revelation that star sprinter Shericka Jackson will not contest the sprint double at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
According to multiple reports, Jackson is out of the women’s 100m at the ongoing summer games as she deals with an injury. Jackson came into the games with an unspecified injury she sustained during a warm-up meet in Hungary, pulling up in the final stages of the women’s 200m and limping to the finish line.

Jackson spoke to reporters after the news broke, confirming she and her coaching staff decided it was best to pull out of the race. While staying tight-lipped about her injury, she insisted she’s in “pretty good shape” and claimed she “was only supposed to compete” in the 200m in Paris.
Along with the injury factor is scheduling, as the women’s 100m final and women’s 200m heats are less than 24 hours apart (Aug. 4-5), giving Jackson little recovery time.
Shericka Jackson is the fastest woman alive over the women’s 200m, having set the record at the last two IAAF World Championships. She comes into Paris 2024 as the favourite to take home her first individual gold medal over the distance.
